Quoting with Quote Assist

Quoting with Quote Assist

Quote Assist walks you through building and submitting a quote step by step. Here’s how to get from an unlocked RFQ to a submitted quote.

Why it matters: Quoting on-platform keeps everything trackable, lets the buyer compare quotes fairly, and gives you access to Insights so you can see where your bid landed among the competition.

Getting Started

Open an unlocked RFQ from your RFQ Marketplace or Unlocked RFQs section, then click Start Quote.

Step 1: Enter Quote Details

On the first page, you’ll also be able to see the buyer’s direct contact information. Fill in the following:

  1. Quote Number — Use whatever reference number makes sense for you and your team.

  2. Valid Until Date — The date your quote is valid through. Common options are 30 days from submission or matching the RFQ’s quote-by date.

  3. Payment Preference — Select the closest option from the dropdown. If you want to propose something different, make it part of your conversation with the buyer.

Once complete, click Proceed to Part Quoting.

Step 2: Review Smart Checks

On the left-hand side, you’ll see smart checks generated by MFG’s system based on the attached drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and historical production data. Review these before building your quote — they help you plan more accurately and quote with more confidence.

Step 3: Build Your Quote

Enter your numbers in the Cost Builder. If you use an ERP or have your own quoting system, you can plug your final numbers in directly.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Multiple quantities — If the RFQ lists more than one quantity, quote each one. The buyer is evaluating pricing at different volumes to help decide how to move forward. It’s also an opportunity — one RFQ can turn into an ongoing relationship.

  • Multiple parts — If the RFQ includes more than one part, each will appear on the left-hand side. Build a separate quote for each.

  • Your cost details stay private — The buyer only sees your final pricing, not your markup or internal breakdown.

Step 4: Review & Submit

1.    Review your lead time and pricing summary.

2.    Add any brief notes to the buyer if needed.

3.    Click Submit Quote.

Your submitted quote will appear in your Quotes area, where you can monitor its status and view Insights.

After You Win

If you win the RFQ, you’ll receive a notification. You can then review the buyer’s purchase order and accept it to move forward with the job.

Tip: Even if you’re in conversation with the buyer outside of MFG, always submit your quote on-platform. It keeps everything in one place and ensures you have access to Insights after the RFQ closes.
